650 youngsters pledge to vote at Panjab University

As many as 650 youngsters signed The Times of India's "Rise Up Campaign" at Punjab University's Student Centre and University Institute of Open Learning in about an hour on Friday.

CHANDIGARH: As many as 650 youngsters signed The Times of India's "Rise Up Campaign" at Panjab University's Student Centre and University Institute of Open Learning in about an hour on Friday.The downpour could not dampen the spirit of the youth who pledged to vote this Lok Sabha Elections.The board was filled with enthusiastic comments — "Everybody must vote the right person", "Voting is your birthright and you shall use it", "Stand up for yourself and vote", "Vote for development", and "Stand for vote".Mohini Vig, 22, a student of diploma in BA, said, "I got my voter ID card made as soon as I turned 18. I am quite excited as I will be voting for the first time. Youngsters should come forward and exercise their right."Mehak Sharma, 22, an MSE computer science student from Panchkula, said, "I will be voting for the second time. The TOI campaign is quite inspiring, as it motivates people to vote for change."Tenzin, 25, a geology student at PU, said, "I appreciate the efforts of TOI. I have voted twice and this will be my third time. I will use my right efficiently."In three days, the campaign has received over 2,450 signatures.
